React Native Weekly #9 React Native Godot, Expo 2.5M Downloads, Swift Android SDK and more

Introducing React Native Godot#

A library has been released that lets you embed the Godot game engine inside a React Native application. It goes beyond simply embedding a Godot game as a full screen — you can also integrate it as part of a React Native view, and even access the Godot API from JS, meaning you can control what’s happening inside a Godot game directly from React Native.

Today, we’re officially releasing React Native Godot to the public. For the first time, every React Native developer can create games with an amazing UI on top. This unlocks a new era of apps and games. github.com/borndotcom/react-na…

Expo Is Now Hitting 2.5 Million Weekly Downloads#

Expo’s download count had already grown to 2 million weekly downloads as of October 28, 2025.

Expo @expo · 2025年10月27日

🤯 Whoa. We passed 2M weekly downloads.

Looking at npm trends more recently, the number has climbed even further to 2.5 million — that’s 2× what it was a year ago and more than 5× compared to two years ago. It’s clear that interest in Expo and React Native has been accelerating significantly lately.

Uniwind Pro Is in the Works#

Uniwind Pro — the premium tier of Uniwind, which lets you style your app much like Tailwind — is currently in development, with a beta expected in the latter half of November. It’s reportedly 5–10% faster than the underlying React Native Unistyles that powers Uniwind, with further improvements planned down the road.

Jacek @jpudysz · 2025年11月2日

Busy Halloween weekend 🎃 just me and the laptop. A few updates: - Uniwind Pro now surpasses Unistyles in speed by 5–10% 🔥(more to come) - Finished the new licensing system, no auth headers, no weird setup, almost as simple as npm install - The pro dashboard is shaping up

Documentation covering Monorepo support with Uniwind has also been added.

Docs for Adding Expo to an Existing React Native App#

Expo highlighted their documentation on how to add Expo to a plain React Native project. Expo is additive — you can adopt it incrementally and only bring in the pieces you need: setting up CI/CD with EAS, adding OTA updates, or using Expo Modules to make native module management easier.

Expo @expo · 2025年10月30日

"You're not gonna talk me into an Expo migration." That was one dev's version of "hello" when he came up to our booth at React Conf. He's a bare RN dev and he is determined to stay that way. Which is great! Because he's right. We aren't trying to talk any bare rn devs into a

Building Native Modules with the Swift Android SDK#

Mike from Callstack has managed to share a single Native Modules implementation across iOS and Android using the Swift Android SDK. The source code and templates aren’t public yet, but this kind of approach could significantly reduce the cost of implementing functionality natively.

Mike @grabbou · 2025年11月3日

Is this the future? 🤯 Just built a cross-platform React Native Turbo Module in Swift that runs on iOS and Android using the Swift Android SDK. Should I open source that template?
